History of the School – Celebrating 75 years

The School of Kinesiology and Health Studies (SKHS) Celebrates its 75th Anniversary!

In 2021 the Queen’s University School of Kinesiology and Health Studies (SKHS) celebrates its 75th anniversary! Founded in 1946, the School was originally called the School of Physical and Health Education. The name was updated effective May 2006.

The School’s mission is to promote well-being from cell to society, through teaching, research, and active engagement in our communities. We pursue our aims while fostering a safe, caring, and respectful School environment. This anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the past and anticipate the future of Kinesiology and Health Studies.

Since 1946 there have been over 5000 graduates from the school and there are currently 1200 KIN/HLTH undergraduate students and 100 Masters/PhD graduate students.
