2012

  • After graduating from the Kinesiology program at Queen’s, I will be taking a year off from school to work in Vancouver. I am currently pursuing possible career opportunities in business, health and fitness, health promotion, and recreation management.  I have had an unforgettable time at Queen’s and look forward to new experiences and travel adventures in the future!  M.M. –  BSCH SSP KINE
  • The summer after graduation I will work at a Body Now 4 Mums & Kids (BN4MK) Studio as a personal trainer specializing in pre/postnatal fitness.  In the fall, I will start a nutrition program aiming to get into dietetics – with offers to both a BSC in Food and Nutrition at Western University and a BSC in Dietetics at the University of British Columbia a decision will be made soon.  I hope to work in a diabetes management clinic using both exercise and nutrition which is reflected in my blog Fitness on a Budget.  H.S. –  BSCH SSP KINE
  • I am headed to West Vancouver where I have taken the position of Sailing director at the West Vanvouver Yacht Club. I am also taking on the role of Executive Director with Biathlon British Columbia and plan to concurrently pursue a course-based Masters of Kinesiology (part-time) at the University of British Columbia. Ultimately, I will seek to complete my Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Administration at the International Academy of Sport Science in Switzerland, though being a professional beach bum is a pretty good gig for now.  A.D. –  BSCH SSP KINE
  • The fall following graduation, I will be returning to Queen’s to pursue an M.A. in Kinesiology with Dr. Adams.  I’ve had a great undergraduate experience at Queen’s and am excited to be returning in the fall.  Eventually I hope to pursue journalism or teaching.  F.H. –  BSCH SSP KINE

  • In the fall following graduation, I will be returning to Queen’s to complete a Masters in Exercise Physiology with Dr. Brendon Gurd.  My work will strive towards changing physical activity levels in elementary school-aged children in an effective and impactful manner.  My future endeavours, although ambiguous and open-ended will hopefully follow suit and extend this improvement of healthy, active lifestyles to broader populations.  J.M. – BSCH SSP KINE
  • Starting this fall, I will be headed to the University of Calgary to be a part of their residence administration team as a Residence Life Coordinator.  I had a wonderful experience at Queen’s working in residences as a Don and am excited for this new opportunity to pursue my passion for advancing higher education within student affairs.  I hope to continue training for a marathon while enjoying all that the mountains have to offer.  My goal is to eventually return to graduate studies to study sociology of education or social work.  C.J. –  BSCH SSP KINE

  • After graduation I am looking forward to continuing my education in September at McMaster University in their M.D. program. I’m hoping that my background in Kinesiology will help me to incorporate preventative medicine into my medical practice.  L.G. –  BSCH SSP KINE
  • After graduating with a B.Sc. in Kinesiology from Queen’s I will be heading to Trinidad and Tobago on a PFF Fellowship to implement a community sports project called Girls Kick Aids Out.  I will be working with a local sporting organization to implement a program that will use sport and physical activity to provide HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention to female adolescents.  While I am not certain what I will be doing following my year abroad I hope to continue to be involved in international sport development.  R. • In my fourth and final year of a Kinesiology degree, I did a thesis and really enjoyed it.  So, next year I will be starting a two-year Masters Program at the University of British Columbia in Health Psychology with Dr. Mary Young.  K.B. –  BSCH SSP KINE
  • I am looking forward to attending the University of Toronto this fall for the Occupational Therapy program.  I hope to incorporate what I have learned about health promotion from the Kinesiology program throughout my Master’s degree and career!  A.K. –  BSCH SSP KINE
  • Upon completing an excellent 4 years at Queen’s, being immersed and exposed to a plethora of activities ranging from music, lab and research activities, varsity sport teams, and inspiring and engaging individuals, I’ve concluded that I love University dynamics.  I’ve decided to continue with higher education and pursue a thesis-based Master’s in Neuroscience at the University of Calgary under the supervision of Dr. Frank MacMaster.  My project will aim to look at the effects of exercise on brain plasticity in depression.  I’m looking forward to a new exciting enviornment where I plan to continue learning and engaging with my community.  This summer I’ll be volunteering with ARBI (the Alberta Rehabilitation for Brain Injured), as well as busking, taking advantage of the mountains and other outdoor activities, hopefully catching up on some novels, and assisting with Learn to Skull classes at the Calgary Rowing Club.  It’s amazing how fast time ticks away!  Good luck to everyone in their future endeavours.  A.K.C. –  BSCH SSP KINE
