2015

  • Following an amazing 4 years of Kinesiology at Queen’s, I spent a year working, exploring career options, and preparing to write the MCAT. I have recently joined the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve as a Naval Medic and will be attending Humber College in the Fall of 2016 to study Paramedicine. As a member of the Armed Forces, I will have the opportunity to train at military bases both at home and abroad intermittently for the next few years, learning practical skills that will complement my studies perfectly. I hope to get a job with Toronto Paramedic Services upon graduation, and am keeping an open mind about applying to medical school in the future. I will always cherish my time at Queen’s and the great friends I made, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us all.  [Update – accepted to Medical School at University College Cork, Ireland for 2017.]  M.R. – BSCH SSP KINE
  • After an amazing four years in PHEKIN, I will be doing a Master’s in Urban Planning at Queen’s. Within my Master’s I will be focusing on Health and Social planning with a particular interest in accessible planning. I am hoping to eventually end up working in disability and accessibility policy.  S.L. –  BSCH SSP KINE
  • I will be attending McGill in September 2016 for a Masters in Applied Science – Dietetics Credentialing! In the next year I hope to work, travel and improve my French.  S.B. –  BSCH SSP KINE
  • I am fortunate to be working with the dynamic team at CBI Health Group – Workplace Solutions. I work as a Kinesiologist in an occupational environment. I love it!  L.T. –  BSCH SSP KINE
  • This coming autumn I am beginning Medical School at McMaster University. I am thinking of continuing to combine my interests in health care, sports and fitness, which were fostered by kinesiology, by pursuing a specialization in sports medicine – but who knows what kind of medicine I will actually end up doing! For now, however, I am off to Europe to travel and relax for 2 months before I launch into further education.  E.Q. –  BSCH SSP KINE
  • I just graduated from Queen’s Kinesiology and in the fall I’m going to Western to do my Master’s in Physical Therapy. I decided on Western because they have a very small (55) program which is very close-knit just like Queen’s PHE/KIN so hopefully I enjoy it just as much as I’ve enjoyed my time here!  E.M.S. –  BSCH SSP KINE
  • I will be pursuing a Masters in Exercise Physiology at McMaster for the next two years. After exploring multiple options including applying to Occupational Therapy, I decided that I was eager to give research more of a chance at this current time. As a student who truly loved many of the courses that made up the Kinesiology undergraduate at Queen’s, I found it difficult to identify a particular subject area to focus in on for my Masters. This being said, I am confident in the opportunities that exist at McMaster and excited for the next leg of my educational journey to begin!  B.G. – BSCH SSP KINE
  • This upcoming fall, I will be returning to Queen’s University for the Master of Physical Therapy program.  I am very grateful to have been part of such an amazing undergraduate program that has helped me achieve this goal, and am looking forward to this next step!  K.V. –  BSCH SSP KINE
  • To all the professors and students in PHEKIN, thank you — the past four years have been a blast and I could not be more excited to be attending Queen’s University in the United Kingdom to study Dentistry. The well-rounded education I received with my kinesiology degree, prepared me very well for my dental MMI (multiple mini interview) where I was hounded by heavy sociology and science questions. I hope to volunteer with Dentists Without Borders during my summer months and assist those who are in need of dental care. All in all, I wish everyone in PHEKIN continued success and hope the best for everyone!   Y.H. – BSCH SSP KIN
  • I am pursing graduate work with a Master’s of Science Thesis program at Western in Exercise Physiology. End goal is Medicine.  M.H. – BSCH SSP KINE
  • Next year I will be attending Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta for an Advanced Certificate in Athletic Therapy.  I have had such a positive experience in the athletic therapy mini-stream here at Queen’s and feel as though further certification in this field will assist me in pursuing a career in clinical rehabilitation.  J.D. – BSCH SSP KINE
  • After a four-year experience like no other in Queen’s Kinesiology, I will be beginning a Master’s of Science in Exercise Physiology in Dr. Gurd’s Muscle Physiology Lab at Queen’s next fall.  In my Master’s I hope to educate myself with current research in muscle physiology, learn many hands-on laboratory skills and techniques, and continue independent research. Specifically, I aim to further investigate the results from my 4th-year honours thesis last year and research more in-depth molecular mechanisms that govern individual responses to exercise training.   J.B. – BSCH SSP KINE
  • In August I will be beginning my journey in Medicine at the University of Toronto. I look forward to pursuing my interests in health and human physiology as I strive to learn more about the medical field and where I might see myself fitting into it.  Thank you Queen’s for the most unforgettable experience – if my four years in Toronto are half as good as the ones that I spent in Kingston I am in for a treat!! J.W. – BSCH SSP KINE
  • I truly feel lucky to have been in an amazingly warm, tight knit, intellectual and social undergraduate program community. Although I know it will be very difficult to find an educational experience that can top the four years I spent in PHE/Kin, I am excited to be furthering my education with a professional goal in mind. I am attending the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in the fall!  P.H. – BSCH SSP KINE
  • In September, I will be starting a two-year Advanced Standing Track (AST) Bachelor of Nursing Science at Queens University. I will greatly miss the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies.  J.E. – BSCH SSP KINE
  • After graduating from Kinesiology at Queen’s, I will be attending the University of Ottawa for Commerce. Though this may seem like quite the deviation from what I studied at Queen’s, I hope one day to combine my passion for health and the skills I will gain while studying business, in order to pursue a career in Health Administration. It was an amazing four years at Queen’s, and I look forward to the journey ahead! S.S. – BSCH SSP KINE
  • Next year I am returning to Queen’s University to complete a Masters of Science in Biomechanics and Ergonomics. My interest in the function and performance of human movement was fostered through my undergraduate studies in the Kinesiology Department, as well as my participation in Varsity Athletics. Upon completion of my Masters, I hope to pursue medicine, sport performance or clinical biomechanics. C.P. – BSCH SSP KINE
  • In the fall, I will be attending Mount Royal University in Calgary to become a certified Athletic Therapist. Following the completion of the program, I am hoping to work as an Athletic Therapist for a professional sports team (ideally in the CFL). If I’m successful in achieving my goal, I am looking in to becoming a certified sky diving instructor for the off season.  D.H. – BSCH SSP KINE
