I will be attending Humber College’s Post-Graduate Certificate in Public Relations program starting in September. I hope to combine my Health Studies degree with Public Relations and hopefully do communications for an institution like the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Toronto. Upon graduating from Queen’s, I will be attending the University of Toronto to pursue a two-year accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After this, I plan to work for a couple years, and then continue my education with a Master of Nursing and Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Diploma (MN-PHCNP). I believe that the two concentrations I have studied at Queen’s (Health Studies and Psychology) have prepared me well to work in a health care setting, and hope to apply the knowledge I have attained here to my future practice. Next year I will be attending The Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto to begin a three year Masters of Landscape Architecture program. C.H. – BAH MAJ HLTH
I am taking the summer off to study for my GMAT as I hope to either pursue a Master’s in Health Administration (MHA) or MBA with a concentration in Healthcare. As these programs often require a couple years of work experience, I am hoping to work in the marketing and communications department in a not-for-profit health organization in the meantime. I was accepted at Fleming College for their Paramedic Program but have kindly declined their offer in hopes that I will be able to pursue my first choice in attending the Royal Military College of Canada for their Masters of Public Administration program. I also plan to obtain my Project Management Professional Certification (thanks to HLTH 415) in conjunction with this Master’s program. I hope to pursue a career in health care management and I believe that the knowledge and skills I have gained through the Health Studies program will put me on the right track to achieve my goals. M.C. – BAH MAJ HLTH
This fall I will be attending Lakehead University and pursuing a Master of Public Health. My past four years in the Health Studies program has shown me my passion for health promotion. Before coming back to Queen’s University in the fall of 2016 to do a Master’s in Health Studies, I am taking a year off. I am planning to travel, work and continue my interest in health promotion by completing various certifications, including yoga teacher training and a Seniors’ Fitness Instructor Course offered through Western University. Our group project in HLTH 415 further increased my interest for older adult fitness. – K.G.S, BAH MAJ HLTH, MIN GRMN
