Course Description: KNPE 337 introduces students to the principles involved with promoting physical activity among children and youth. Throughout the course, students develop skills to design and effectively deliver physical activity programming in a variety of settings, including classrooms, gymnasiums, and playgrounds. Students complete 24 placement hours in a local elementary school, working in pairs to deliver Daily Physical Activity (DPA) sessions to different classes.

Course Description: HLTH 417 is designed to advance student understanding of health promotion planning, implementation, and evaluation. This course uses a combination of seminar discussions and community-based activities to prepare students with core competencies required in health promotion and public health practice. A major focus of the course is a service-learning project completed in collaboration with a community partner.

Course Description: HLTH/KNPE 300 provides students in Health Studies, Kinesiology and Physical Education with a community-based practical internship opportunity related to their field of study, including but not limited to: fitness facilities, community health centres and allied healthcare clinics. Students complete a minimum of 84 internship hours throughout the winter term (January – April). Through pre-internship workshops, course seminars and their community-based internship, students will gain and utilize a wealth of professional development skills and experience.
