El Zahraa Majed, PhD candidate in SKHS, received the top prize of $1000 at this year’s Queen’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for presentation of her research project “How to Belong? Physical Activity as a Vehicle for Integration.”. Her project focusses on the isolation of immigrants joining new societies, and how it affects their physical and mental health. El Zahraa’s research looks at how physical activity can help new immigrants integrate and feel a sense of belonging after moving to Canada. Read more about the 3MT competition in the Queen’s Gazette
