This year, Kinesiology students will participate in a unique hybrid Orientation Week that will include both virtual and in-person activities to welcome you into our program. These events will include icebreakers, academic support, as well as some Kin traditions! With the assistance of the Co-Curricular Restart Advisory Group (CRAG), we hope to obtain approval to execute safe in-person Orientation events during a weekend September. We will provide more details about in-person plans as soon as possible.
Class of 2025!
First off, I wanted to say congratulations, and welcome you to the Kinesiology family. It is with great confidence that I say you have made the best decision of selecting Kinesiology at Queen’s, and you should be incredibly proud of yourself for making it to this point. I remember being in your position two years ago, scared yet excited to leave home and start a new chapter of my life. While the transition to university can be stressful, you will have myself, the Executive Committee of Kinesiology Orientation (ECKO), your orientation leaders (AKA coaches), and the entire SKHS community to support you along the way. Not only will this program offer you a wide range of academic opportunities, it will also provide you with new experiences, and lifelong relationships. You have an exciting four years ahead of you, and I cannot wait to see what this opportunity has in store for each and every one of you.
During our hybrid, 6-day KIN Orientation Week, we will expose you to everything you need to know about Queen’s and the Kinesiology program. We have been constructing a wide range of virtual and in-person activities that will introduce you to student life, academics, extracurriculars, and team building. Our Orientation Week will be structured into 4 days of virtual events, and 2 days of safe in-person activities (all of which follow Public Health Guidelines). More detailed descriptions and resources can be found in the Orientation Handbook linked below, but please feel free to email me at orientation.headcoach@pheksa.queensu.ca if you have any questions, concerns, or would like clarification!
I am so excited to meet you and I hope you’re eager to start this new chapter of your life!
